Data Warehousing (2nd Nov)Published: October, 2006 Data warehousing is not the simple place it once was. With increasing amounts of data, more interest in predictive capability, drives towards corporate performance management, real-time requirements, demands for information lifecycle management, pressure for compliance and data governance, and a growing demand for master data management amongst others, the whole market is booming. At the same time the traditional hegemony enjoyed by the established data warehousing vendors is under attack by so-called data warehouse appliance suppliers that promise improved performance for a lower cost of ownership. That these claims can be substantiated is not in dispute but there is much uncertainty with respect to the overall capability of these products, with claims from appliance vendors and counterclaims from traditional vendors flying back and forth. Objectives of the DayThis half-day conference and exhibition is intended to provide clarity about the role of appliances within the data warehousing market.
Who should attendThe objective of this conference is to enable senior IT professionals to understand, evaluate and prioritise the options available with regard to appliances. What you will gainThe opportunity to gain face-to-face interaction with leading experts and vendors who understand the issues around the role of appliances. A preliminary paper will be distributed to you prior to the event that outlines the issues and the conference will close with a panel discussion that will consider the day's presentations and take questions from the audience – we expect this to be lively! Finally, after the conference, a paper summarising the day's conclusions will be circulated to all delegates. Comments? if you have any comments or questions about this issue, please contact us. |
