Bloor Welcomes Andy Hayler

Published: April, 2008

Bloor is very pleased to welcome Andy Hayler on board as an associate analyst specialising in Master Data Management (MDM). He is an established authority on the software industry who provides strategy consultancy to major corporations and software companies. Andy’s MDM credentials could hardly be better as he has been an innovator in the MDM market.

Master data is data that is shared between computer systems such as ‘customer’, ‘product’, ‘location’, ‘asset’, ‘contract’ and so on; large organisations have many systems which store such information - and the management of multiple and competing definitions of this data is known as master data management.

In February 2008 Andy co-authored a Bloor MDM white paper with Philip Howard and has now followed this up with a Bloor MDM market update published in April. Both are available for free download (subject to terms)

He is the founder of Kalido which, under his leadership, was the world’s fastest growing business intelligence vendor in 2001. Kalido was recognised as a data warehousing innovator, then launched arguably the first true MDM product to create a new market which is now well recognised and fast growing. Andy was the only European named in Red Herring’s “Top 10 Innovators of 2002” and was also a pioneer blogger with his award winning “Andy On Enterprise Software” blog.

His career began with Esso in a number of technology roles; then he moved to Shell where he was Technology Planning Manager for Shell UK, then Principal Technology Consultant for Shell International. He later established a global information management consultancy which under his leadership grew to 300 staff.
